Guided by the belief that “life's too short to hate your career,” employees at The Muse care deeply about the work they do every day. The founders of The Muse foster a company culture where employees are encouraged to be transparent, collaborative, and supportive, and are evaluated on their achievements instead of hours worked. As a fast-growing startup, The Muse looks to hire employees who are self-disciplined enough to be given tremendous autonomy and want to be in charge of their own career.
As the lead on front-end engineering at The Muse and Fairygodboss, Richard’s job is to get the company’s page to render on users’ devices quickly and beautifully. In support of that, he promotes standardized front-end coding practices with an eye to scalability, maintainability, and page speed.
James helps onboard new companies and clients, ensuring their content is up and running in a timely manner and allowing a healthy start to their partnership with The Muse and Fairygodboss.
I am deeply motivated to be part of such an entrepreneurial and dedicated team. What I most appreciate about working here is that there is a culture of saying “yes” – we are all open to ideas, we welcome initiatives with enthusiasm, and are game to help each other out. We also maintain a great work/life balance, with clear boundaries and the flexibility to integrate work into our lives in a way that suits each of us.
I lead our coaching program, Coach Connect. In this role, I am responsible for expanding our programming and reach, collaborating across various business functions to achieve our revenue and growth goals, and managing a team that includes one wonderful operational team member and 70 top tier career coaches nationwide. These coaches directly support the job seekers who turn to The Muse for career assistance. Check them out! They change lives!

The Muse is committed to building a diverse team and being an inclusive employer not just on paper, but in practice. To help ensure The Muse is a welcoming environment for all, the company has a Culture Crew. The Culture Crew wants The Muse to be a welcoming environment for all, and meets twice a month to talk about ways to help employees engage with diversity and inclusion in an open and accessible way. Our team also maintains content hubs dedicated to Anti-Racism at Work, LGBTQIA+ at Work, Gender at Work, and Disability at Work.
Additionally, the Culture Crew gives our remote-first employees a chance to step away from their work and get to know each other better through virtual social activities. Whether it's a pumpkin decorating contest or drag bingo, our team loves to gather for the sole purpose of having fun.
